Qatar customs e-link project to be complete in July: Official

With the launch of General Authority of Customs’s (GAC) last stage with Milaha Company, the project to electronically link it with all ministries, institutions and entities concerned with customs’ work will be completed next July, revealed an official from the Sea Customs Department.

Abdul Hadi Hassan al Sahli, the director of the department, explained that the customs clearance at ports of entry in Qatar will become simpler and much faster with the completion of the e-link project.

He highlighted that the Customs Clearance Single Window, ‘Al-Nadeeb’ has helped speed up customs clearance procedures with Sea Customs Department now clearing 800 to 1,000 containers daily as against 200 before, as reported by Qatar Tribune.

The official also said that after the completion of the Hamad Port, difficulties faced by some companies will be resolved.

The Sea Customs Department is working closely with all sea ports by using modern techniques and mechanisms, noted al-Sahil.

The department, as such is also working with Ruwais Port, which receives commercial vessels from Iran and Somalia, further receiving ships carrying ‘gabbro’.

Moreover, it is also dealing with Laffan, which receives industrial ships, and Mesaieed Port.
