Expatriates hail free e-gate services at Hamad International Airport

Expatriate passengers have been benefitting with the newly installed free e-gate service at the arrivals and departures terminal of the Hamad International Airport (HIA).

The facility was introduced by the Ministry of Interior (MoI), including a biometric data activation centre for a hassle-free travelling experience.

The expatriates seem to be very happy with the new facility as they feel it is convenient and time-saving at the same time.

The e-gate service has helped to speed up immigration procedures as expatriates are not required to wait in queues for the officers to manually check their details and stamp the passports, as reported by The Peninsula.

As a matter of fact, the e-gate service is accessible to expatriates above 18 years of age, who are required to scan the ID card on the card reader machine installed at e-gate followed by finger print or retina scan.

The Peninsula reported a long time Indian expatriate sharing his experience at HIA’s e-gate service, who stated that expatriates no longer need to wait in long queues as e-gates are very quick and efficient. The whole procedure at the e-gate takes less than two minutes.

There are 19 e-gates have been installed at the departures terminal and 16 at the arrival terminal, currently.
