1. Internal resolve. Top-Earners don’t need others to tell them what to do. They are able to think on their own. They have an internal compass of what is right and wrong, and they follow it. They don’t wait for someone else to solve problems for them–they figure out ways to remove obstacles solo. They will gladly strive to meet benchmarks, but they live by the goals they set for themselves. Their education, their previous employment, and their connections have little to do with their success–their personal commitment, their individual willingness to continually meet challenges head on, and their self-direction are what makes them unstoppable in their rise to the top.

 2. Generosity. Top-Earners care more about helping others than about helping themselves. They are givers rather than takers. In every interaction, they focus on what they can do for the person they are working with, rather than on what they are going to get in return. They think of themselves as there to serve, to provide, and to share–and they make it known in the words they use, in the suggestions they make, in the resolutions they offer, and in the way they reflect on how their choices will affect the customer they are tasked with assisting. They opt to always be proactive rather than reactive, and because of it, they arrive at every situation early, well-prepared, and most importantly, present and attentive. By listening carefully to the needs of those around them, they are in tune with every possibility to succeed and are able to seize the opportunity each time it arises.

3. Quality-consciousness. Top earners don’t do things in a half-baked manner. Their goal is not to be sloppy and done, but to be correct and complete. They approach each task with an understanding that certain parameters have to be met in order for it to be ticked off their list–and ticking tasks off their list is something they love to do, because with each completion, they know they are blazing the trail one step further. Top earners don’t like it if they are asked to do something in a way they cannot comprehend, and they systematically take umbrage at being asked to cut corners. They are constantly keeping the big picture in sight while diligently working at the details. And they apply their desire for quality to themselves as well, with the same intransigence. They constantly evaluate themselves to understand how they can do better, not because they are asked to for an annual review but because it annoys them personally to not have done the best they could on something.

Top-earners are about one thing. Getting it done. Every question they ask in a hiring interview is about how they will complete their job. Every time they contact a customer, they expect to close the conversation with a win because they know they will listen carefully and give the maximum of themselves. Every time they meet a goal, they automatically set another. And because they are continually pushing forward with an intent to succeed, they bring home the bacon.
