When Doha received rain Monday night.

Doha and other parts of the country received rain Monday evening and the Qatar Met department forecast another spell of showers from this weekend, reaching its peak next Monday and Tuesday.

Monday’s rain started in the evening, mainly in the northern and central areas, before extending to other places. The weather office later tweeted, around 9.30pm, that Radar still detecting scattered rain across the country. Chance of rain continues until Wednesday dawn.

On Tuesday, windy conditions are expected in the northern parts along with a cold night across the country.
Offshore areas, too, are likely to see strong winds and high seas today, according to the weather report.

Scattered, light rain was reported from northern and central areas last evening, gradually reaching Doha and other places, and it was expected to continue through the night, the Met department tweeted. It also observed that the rain would “resume on Friday, with a better chance on Sunday evening and reaching its peak on Monday and Tuesday”.
Meanwhile, the cold spell continued in the country, with a number of places recording a minimum temperature of below 10C Monday and similar figures are forecast for Tuesday.

A minimum of 7C in expected in Abu Samra today, followed by 8C in Wakrah, Mesaieed and Al Khor, 9C in Dukhan and 12C in Doha. The maximum, on the other hand, will range from 17C to 22C in the country.
Abu Samra, where Qatar’s lowest-ever temperature of 1.5C was recorded early on Sunday, was the coldest place in the country Monday (until 5.30pm) as well with a minimum of 4C, weather charts showed. It was followed by Karana (5C), Mesaieed, Turayna, Dukhan and Batna (6C), and Al Khor, Sheehaniya and Jumayliya (7C). In and around the capital, the minimum was 10C in the Qatar University area, 11C in the Hamad International Airport area and 12C in the Doha airport area.

The detailed forecast for inshore areas on Tuesday says it will be hazy in some places at first, followed by mild daytime conditions. Some clouds are also expected along with slight dust in certain areas, and it will be cold by night.
Hazy and partly cloudy conditions are likely in offshore areas.

The prevailing northwesterly winds will attain a maximum speed of around 22 knots in inshore areas (north) and 30 knots in some offshore areas at times, according to the Met department. The sea level, meanwhile, may go up to 12ft.
