DOHA: There is good news for Karwa taxi customers as Mowasalat has waived its taxi booking charges from tomorrow.
Mowasalat has also waived the technology service charge of QR1 from July 15, 2018. This charge was introduced in February.
Telephone booking charge within Doha city per trip was QR5, while booking charge to Hamad International Airport was QR8. From Monday onwards passengers won’t be charged these additional charges.

Both waivers come as a special promotion and it is not mentioned till when it will last. When queried, Mowasalat said management will decide on it later.
This is very good news for regular Karwa taxi users as some international app-based taxi companies, which operate in Qatar, are currently not charging any booking fees. But they do charge surge (extra) charge during peak times which is not the case with Karwa.
Mowasalat had earlier said that technology service charge was meant to cover expenses of Internet connectivity through which taximeters of Karwa cabs were connected with Karwa centre.
Mowasalat Co (Karwa) is a major provider for taxis and public buses, which includes under its umbrella, along with the taxi franchise operators, a taxi fleet of 4,000 vehicles, and a bus fleet of about 4,200 buses that are operated by large work force of 7,000 employees from around 54 different countries.
