Ministry of Interior records 49 million transactions

Doha: The Ministry of Interior registered a high record in the number of transactions executed through its various departments during the first half of 2018 which reached over 49 million, showing an increase of 4.5 percent when compared to the same period of 2017.
The monthly average number of service transactions to the public amounted to over 8 million, which is 272,691 transactions per day or an average of 11,362 transactions per hour.
The Expatriates Affairs Department and the unified services centres recorded more than 3.4 million transactions, among it 1.7 million related to residency visa, an increase of 32.1 percent compared to the same period last year.
During the same period, the Expatriates Affairs Department achieved more than 1.4 million visa transactions, an average increase of 10.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
The total number of services and transactions submitted by Recruitment Committee Applications Status was 436,738, an increase of 15.2 percent compared to same period of 2017.
The Airport Passports Department succeeded in providing its services and cleared travel arrangements for approximately 6,956,731 (over 6.9 million) travellers through Hamad International Airport.
Regarding the transactions which were achieved thought Metrash2 on smart mobiles, the total number of messages in the first half of this year was over 16 million.
The total number of transactions completed reached over 1.9 million, an increase of 382,774 transactions compared to same half of last year.
During the first six months of 2018, as many as 37,452 transactions related to the Qatari passport were achieved, including 3,949 transactions relating to the issuance of a new Qatari passport.
Pensioners and persons with disabilities were exempted from paying the fees of the Ministry service.
Statistics indicate that the total value of these exemptions of fees in the first half of this year amounted to more than QR1.6m.
During the same period, the General Directorate of Traffic issued 39,345 new driving licenses and completed registration procedures for 32,668 new vehicles. During fist six months of 2018, 8,30,318 violations were recorded, registering a decrease of 21.1 percent compared to the same period last year.
The report points out that the majority of traffic patrols reached to traffic accident in record time, less than 7 minutes.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense succeeded in extinguishing 916 fires during the first half of this year, an increase of 14.5 percent over the first half of last year. The Department carried out 576 rescue and relief operations in car crashes, collapses, broken elevators and closed doors, while the total number of licenses issued by the Department was 19,283.
The average time of arrival of Civil Defense vehicles for accident sites was approximately 7 minutes.
Al-Fazaa police patrol received a total of 22,758 calls while the number of inspection drives reached to 725 in order to maintain security and stability in the country. The average time of arrival of Al-Fazaa patrols was about 6 minutes.
The National Command Center recorded 2,24,692 calls through 999 via emergency service 999, which is equal of receiving 1,248 calls per day, and 52 calls per hour.
The Ministry report indicated that 11,811 calls were monitored by Najm system. The reports ranged from accidents and traffic services by 94.3 percent, criminal incidents 5.2 percent, fire incidents 0.3 percent and complaints and services by 0.2 percent.
