The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has intensified its inspection campaigns at commercial complexes and shopping malls in the country, following the launch of the Shop Qatar festival.
The campaign aims at exercising tighter control on the local market and in particular on the various retailers in the country to see to how they are complying with the stipulations of law no 8 for 2008 on consumer protection, and the terms and conditions of the licence granted for promotions and discounts.
During an inspection campaign at a mall on Monday, three violations were found including the absence of price tags, and non-display of the discount licence prominently at the outlet. Each outlet was fined QR5,000 for each violation.
