List of activities you can try on Qatar National Sport Day
From Sambo to fencing to spinning, there are lots of sporting activities happening tomorrow on the occasion of the eighth edition of Qatar National Sport Day (QNSD).

As residents gear up for QNSD, organisers reveal various competitions and games at popular venues.

Aspire Zone Foundation is organising sports activities for all family members from 8 am to 3pm. Many local institutions and companies are organising their events at the Aspire Zone.

Activities include fun run, lake walk, cage sports, Kendo, aerobic classes, climbing wall, and Sambo.

Sambo is a russian martial art and self-defence technique is being held for the first time in Qatar (Read also: Sambo show set to kick-off for the first time in Aspire Zone). Aspire Dome will also have an aerobic class for ladies only from 12:30 pm to 1 pm.

Watersports, mini-golf for kids, weightlifting, volleyball, karate, boat race are just a few of the activities at Cultural Village Foundation – Katara that will host events from 8 am to 6pm.

Various medical centres in the country will also put up their counters for residents to get their medical examinations done.

For the first time in Education City at Qatar Foundation, a 3km obstacle course along the Oxygen Park will comprise of 14 challenging obstacles for players to overcome in shortest time possible. The competition is for those above 18 years of age and will happen from 12pm to 6pm tomorrow. A mini track with obstacles for children will be placed at Ceremonial green Spine from 9am to 6pm.

Qatar cyclists will organise a cycling marathon at 10am from the Ceremonial Court to the Museum of Islamic Art and return, covering approximately 20 Km.
Apart from these, the NSD activities at QF will begin at 8 AM and will include Shukran Cup – tournaments including cricket, football, basketball, volleyball – and chess competition among others. There will be yoga sessions with Vishnu, Spinning classes, boxing classes among others.

Pearl Qatar is another venue that has lined up activities from 8am to 4pm at two different spots in the island. Football, Basketball, Tennis and Kids zone will be at Costa Malaz. Meanwhile, walkathon, football dribbling, Obstacle challenge games, Adult climbing wall, Table Tennis, Gym Ara, Giant Jenga, Inflatable climbing wall for kids, Foosball and Badminton at La Croisette in Porto Arabia. Shuttle buses will operate between Porto Arabia and Costa Malaz.

Apart from the regular sporting events such as running, football, martial arts, badminton, basketball, there is innovative events such as fun race and balloon race scheduled to happen at Al Bidda Park. Qatar Sports For All Federation is holding the first edition of the Balloon Run where participants have to meet various challenges on track and must work collectively to get to the finish line together.

Museum of Islamic Park will host some of the corporate companies in the country where sports activities will begin in the morning at 8 am and will continue until 5 pm. Residents will get a chance to try their hands on fencing at the MIA park. The park will be divided into various zones starting with kids area which includes games and races, zone 2 will have billiards, table tennis and table football as well as zumba and aerobics. Zone 3 would include fun games including tug of war, ping pong waiter, three-legged race while zone 4 will have martial arts and other combat games. Zone 5 will feature ball sports such as handball, volleyball and basketball.

 

Losail Circuit Sports Club is organising a sports event only for ladies and kids. Pound fitness class, yoga, zumba, martial arts, and motorsport show are just a few of the events lined for the ladies. While the kids can also have fun with activities like Xtork extreme sports park, pedal cars by Porsche, Foosball, Basketball and much more. The track will be open from 9am to 7pm and boys above the age of 9 are not allowed as it is an only Ladies event. Though all the events are free, renting a bicycle at the venue will cost you QR40/per hour.

Fire Station will offer residents a chance to try their hands or more precisely their legs on Winter Sports.

Those interested in Ice Hockey, could head to Villagio Mall at the rink.

Sheraton Grand Doha will host a day full of fitness activities where admission is free for everyone. The day’s activity begin with meditation yoga at 7am followed by boot camp, zumba, beach volleyball, rowing challenge and few other kids activities.
