Kochery & Partners has received the licence from the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Authority, making it the first international Indian firm to provide professional legal services in Qatar.

Doha-based legal professional Nizar Kochery said the licence will help Kochery & Partners to provide legal services to both start-up companies and established firms with specialisation on commercial corporate advisory, industrial licensing, and other related fields.

“Our office will also provide arbitration services to those seeking our assistance,” said Kochery, who is also an empanelled arbitrator of the Indian Council of Arbitration (ICA).

The ICA, established in 1965, is one of the most important arbitration centres in the Asia Pacific region and was set up as a specialised arbitral body at the national level under the initiatives of the Indian government.

Kochery, whose column “Legal Helpline” appears regularly in Gulf Times, said the new firm will provide direction on the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises and introduce proper corporate governance mechanisms.

After securing the QFC licence, Kochery & Partners’ new office will function on the 20th floor of Almana Business Centre along C-Ring Road in Bin Mahmoud.

The Almana Business Centre is one of the 40 designated buildings by the QFC to carry out businesses in Qatar, Kochery pointed out.
