Barwa launches QR105m Al Khor expansion project

DOHA: Barwa Real Estate Group, the leading real estate investment company in Qatar, announced yesterday the award of the construction of the project of the Expansion of Al Khor Sports Facilities to the Contractor “Al Bader Construction and Steel Works” for a value of QR105m.

The project is an extension of the project of Al Khor Recreation Facilities which aims to raise the standard of living of the workforce in Qatar by providing them with integrated recreation and sports facilities.

The implementation of the project is to be completed within a period of 18 months.

It will be constructed on a plot area of 69,757sqm, which will include a hypermarket with an area measuring 8,000sqm, in addition to a multipurpose hall measuring 300sqm.

The infrastructure work includes the construction of an electricity substation, internal roads and all services required such as water, electricity, sewage, irrigation, communications, surveillance cameras, internal roads, parking lots, pump rooms with tanks for water, fire and gas.

The project of Al Khor Recreation Facilities for workers is located in the Industrial Area of Al Khor City.

The recreational facilities of the project are used on several occasions by several government agencies and private companies. In addition, Barwa cooperated with the Ministry of Interior in order to create an annual program to cover all national and sporting events. The number of people who visited the project exceeded 500,000 during 2016.

Barwa Real Estate has many projects under its fold for labours and one of the major projects is construction of a new labour city.

In December last year, the company signed a contract with INSHA Company to construct a new labor city having 3,170 residential houses at Salwa Road with the contract value of QR1,295m.

The new labour city project in Salwa Road occupies an overall area of 994,567 sqm and includes 3170 residential houses, each comprising eight rooms, eight bathrooms, and a kitchen.

Additionally, the project includes retail shops and mosques with a total building area of 730,728sqm. Moreover, the construction will include all the infrastructure works consisting of 25 power substations, internal roads, and potable water, fire, irrigation and sewage networks as well as surveillance cameras.
