Doha: Some conditions previously listed for changing jobs by expatriates are now not seen on ministry’s website.
Arabic daily Al Sharq reported that the requirements for job change is amended on The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affair website.
The conditions of same nationality, gender and profession for job change approval is no more seen on the Ministry’s website link where an expatriate needs to apply for job change.
Earlier, an expatriate was able to change jobs only if the new employer has an approval for a position for the same nationality, gender and profession.
This clause has been removed from the website.
The special condition for expatriates aged above 60 years is also not there.
Expatriate workers can access the services of “employer change” and “leave the country” through the link named Worker Notice e-service on Ministry’s website. The applicants can access the services by entering their Qatar ID and mobile number.
On entering the pin number send to the mobile number, the worker can see all the personal information like occupation, age and employers’ information listed.
The expatriate worker need to choose from the drop down options either job change or leaving the country. Then upload the attested contract copy and submit the request.
In the terms and conditions listed on the Ministry website, it states that “There should be no restrictions against the new employer that would stop the change”.
The worker seeking a job change is required to submit a request to the ministry 30 days before the contract comes to an end, if it is a fixed–term contract.
In case of an open-ended contract, the worker should stay not less than five years in service and the notice period would be 30 days if the duration of service is five years, and 60 days, if the duration of service is more than five years.
In case of arbitrariness or conciliation, worker needs to attach documents to prove it.
