KUWAIT CITY, Aug 7: A total of 1,024 violators of law were detained during an extensive security campaign launched by officers from Ministry of Interior in Amghara area in the presence of Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lieutenant General Essam Al- Naham.
According to a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the officers released 744 individuals after they presented their identification documents, and referred 280 expatriates for deportation.
Among the arrested individuals, 43 were reported as absconding, 46 are in violation of the residency law, 80 did not have any identification documents, four are wanted by law for their involvement in civilian cases, 45 were yet to complete their residency procedures, 60 were working under visa of Article No. 20, and two were involved in cases related to drugs and liquor.
The officers also issued 300 traffic citations and seized 15 vehicles which were referred to the seizedvehicle garage. Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship Affairs also participated in the campaign along with a number of high-ranking officers.
The officers who participated in the campaign had closed down the illegal stores in Amghara Scrapyard and provided necessary assistance where required.
During the campaign, the officers were distributed to all the roads and streets in the area to check the status of the people and arrest all individuals who are in violation of the law or involved in cases.
Some places reported to shelter bachelors and marginal workers were raided and necessary legal action was taken accordingly. The Public Relations and Security Media Department of Ministry of Interior affirmed that such security campaigns will continue in all areas of Kuwait.
