The weekly Cabinet meeting, chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, approved a draft decision of the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs amending some provisions of the then Minister of Civil Service Affairs and Housing’s Decision No 8 of 2005 on regulating the conditions and procedures for obtaining a license to recruit foreign workers for others.
Giving details of the meeting, which took place at the Amiri Diwan, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi said the amendment aims to modernise the controls over the guarantee period granted to employers wishing to recruit domestic workers, to strike a balance between the rights of employers and recruitment agencies.
The Cabinet also approved the proposal of the Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD) concerning the exemption of the Fund from the application of the provisions of the Tenders and Auctions Law issued by Law No 24 of 2015 in respect of contracts related to projects executed by the Fund abroad.
The Cabinet also approved a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) for co-operation in the field of accreditation between Qatar General Organisation for Standards and Metrology (QS) in Qatar and the National Authority for Accreditation (NAH) in Hungary and a draft MoU between the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic.
The Cabinet reviewed the results of the study of the comments and observations received on the annual report of the Permanent Population Committee and took the appropriate decision.
