QNA

Doha: The Ministry of Interior launched today an e-portal to issue visas for those interested in visiting the country.

This platform allows citizens from around the world to visit Qatar and attend the various events it hosts throughout the year.

Speaking at the press conference held at the Ministry of Business and Industry, the Director of Visa Support Services Dept at the Ministry of the Interior Major Abdullah Khalifa Al Mohannadi said that Qatar Visa e-portal, through Hukoomi, will be comprehensive for all visas with a focus on events that are held in the country, whether sports, cultural and tourism-related festivals.

Al Mohannadi said that the applicant can submit for visa from 90 days to 4 days before travel and the passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Qatar. This service cannot be used to obtain a visa for children registered with their parents’ passports, he added.

Al Mohannadi added that the portal comes in light of the efforts of the Ministry of Interior to develop e-services provided to the public and contribute to the promotion of the economic growth witnessed by the State to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030.

He pointed out that the entry and exit of visitors in Qatar is growing rapidly thanks to the many diverse programs that the country has embraced, including enabling citizens of more than 80 countries to obtain immediate visas upon entering Hamad International Airport, which made Qatar among the most open countries to the world.

Al Mohannadi said that the Qatar Visa e-portal will help increase the economic growth of the country and in the first phase, the service will be limited to visa applications from outside Qatar, for those wishing to attend various organized events.

He added that the Qatar Visa Portal includes a special section of events containing all the details of the events held in the country, which allows the public to stay informed of the ongoing events in Qatar.
He explained that the design of the portal was done with the efforts of the Ministry of Interior in cooperation with a number of agencies, each according to its competence.

The portal contains a special section containing all the details of events held in the country, allowing the public from inside and outside Qatar to see all the events and stay informed of the ongoing events in Qatar.

Regarding Qatar visa centers, Al Mohannadi said in a statement on the sidelines of the press conference that Qatar currently has more than 14 visa centers operating in six countries. More than 140,000 visas have been issued since the beginning of its work, pointing to the growth and increasing rate of services provided at these centers, especially with the increasing number of applicants reaching up to 1800 daily.

The next Qatar Visa Center will be opened in Tunisia, Al Mohannadi said.

For his part the Director of Security Systems Department at the Ministry of Interior and Head of the Technical Affairs Unit at the Security Committee at the Supreme Committee for Projects and Legacy Lt. Col. Jassim Al Sayyed, explained that the portal aims to ensure the easing of entry procedures to Qatar.
