Qatar’s Transportation- All You Need know

Striving to develop a modern transportation network, Qatar has accomplished various achievements during the past few years in the transportation sector, especially in the construction of roads and sea and air ports.

Qatar has succeeded in developing and enhancing a big transportation network based on international standards, which has contributed in increasing the country’s economic growth rate.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has been working restlessly on improving Qatar’s transportation services through studying their projects, supervising their execution, and monitoring their progress, which helps in reviving the country’s economy and serving the needs of the national development.

Doha Metro is considered to be the biggest public transportation project in the Middle East that offers an easy, convenient reach within both the capital and the suburbs with all major locations, achieving an extraordinary breakthrough in the new public transportation means.

Established by the Emiri decree in 2011,Qatar Rail was given the mandate to design and develop the country’s rail network, as well as manage, operate, and handle the maintenance of the project upon its completion, thus offering an effective transportation means for both individuals and cargo across the country.

Doha Expressway has also been established to provide vital transportation links across Qatar, connecting key cities and industrial and energy centers in the country, with high quality national freeways and urban arterial routes.

Qatar Airways is the national airline of the State of Qatar, and is considered one of the fastest-growing airlines in the world. It serves more than 150 destinations worldwide. In a short time, it has been able to develop and expand its global network and to be on the top of the aviation industry. Therefore, it was voted as the airline of the year by Skytrax in 2011, 2012 and 2015.

In addition, the Long Distance Passenger and Freight Rail has been established to connect residents to not only other cities in Qatar, but to population centers in the rest of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries through the regional rail network.

Since it was founded in 2004,Mowasalat (Karwa), t he state-owned transport company, has been offering a wide range of services using a diversified portfolio of vehicles with different types, sizes, and purposes, to meet all its customers’ needs.

The land, air, and sea routes in Qatar have all witnessed an unusual development activity, thanks to the government’s huge investments that have helped in raising the transportation sector’s performance level and improving its infrastructure, necessary to support Qatar’s economic growth and achieve the public’s prosperity for all those living in the country.
