Qatar road network increased three times between 2013-18: Ashghal

Doha: President of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Dr Saad bin Ahmad Al Muhannadi reviewed with the Advisory Council on Monday, the infrastructure projects being implemented and developed in the highways, local roads, asset affairs and building sectors.
He pointed out that the roads development projects currently include the A ring road and the passports intersection with 22 February road, Umm Al Dome Street, Muaither, Al Shafi, Al Furousiya Street, Al Maadeed Street and other projects inside and outside Doha. He noted that next year will see the completion of about 95 percent of the road network, which reflects the outstanding performance and work of all state institutions.
Ashghal President noted that the sanitation projects to be completed during the current year including Al Thakhira Sewage Treatment, Second Phase Expansion of Industrial Area Sewage Treatment Facility and the extension of Doha West Sewage Treatment. He added that the list of projects that have been implemented this year includes Al Kiranah reclamation landfill, a water pumping station for Mesaimeer, Doha south sewage infrastructure, and third phase of Industrial Area sewage treatment facility.
Al Muhannadi explained that for the new citizens’ land projects, the implementation plan targets 10,400 land plots in which infrastructure is available for the period from 2017 to 2021, adding that by the end of 2024, the number of land plots used by the citizens will be 3 times more than the infrastructure used in 2013, in order to achieve the well-being of the Qatari citizen.
He further added about the citizens’ land plots, that it includes two types of the existing areas and the future housing units, pointing out that the work during this year includes 15,000 residential units and the completion of 5600 land plots in the existing lands, while the new citizens’ land will start with the implementation of 3,500 land plots and the completion of 837 of them during the current year as well.
In his review to the Advisory Council, Dr Al Muhannadi addressed projects to reduce rainwater catchments, areas where projects were implemented and buildings projects from schools, hospitals, health centers and kindergartens inside Doha and the external areas, as well as the projects that were implemented with the participation of contractors such as the development of Doha Corniche, Al Shamal city beach, Jazirat Bin Ghannam in north of Al Khor, Al Wakrah beach and Al Khor Corniche.
He also referred to measures to avoid the siege, pointing out in this regard that in May, the committee on the development of strategies and policies for the management of supply and rehabilitation of suppliers was inaugurated in addition to the adoption of 142 products and 121 companies. (QNA)
