The weekend is here and we have loads of things happening in and around Doha. Most of them virtual while some that you can visit with appointments and necessary precautionary measures as the ministry keeps reminding us the virus is not yet defeated completely in the country.

QNTC Virtual Fashion Show
Modern and trendy ready-to-wear by international designers and abayas by local designers will be presented at Qatar’s first-ever virtual fashion show hosted by Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC). The virtual fashion show will be broadcast today, August 6 at 9 pm, live through QNTC social media accounts including Instagram and YouTube Live.

Longines Hathab Equestrian Tour 
Equestrian sport enthusiasts in Qatar are in for a treat as the country’s premier showjumping series, Longines Hathab Equestrian Tour makes its return after a long break tomorrow.

The remaining three rounds from the third season that was originally scheduled to conclude in April 2020 will take place at Qatar Equestrian Federation Area. It will feature only the showjumping (Individual and Teams) competitions. Longines Hathab Tour 10 will now take place on August 7 and 8, Tour 11 on August 14 and 15, and the Tour 12 finale over three days on August 27, 28, and 29.

Though the event will take place without spectators, the action will be broadcast live on Al Kass TV.

Katara Virtual Exhibition

Eighteen of the latest paintings by Qatari artist Jawaher Al Mannai titled “Trace,” showcases abstract paintings, most of which were inspired by carvings found in archaeological sites north of Qatar, which are traces that tell of how people in the country lived in the remote past.

Another virtual exhibition titled “The Unreachable Mirage” by pioneering Qatari artist Masoud Al Bulushi works combine realism and abstraction, many of which depict portraits of women wearing traditional face covering which is the batoola.

Qatar Museums exhibition
Qatar Museums (QM) launched major exhibitions at the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA).

Visitors are required to reserve tickets in advance on the QM website. During the visit they must present a “green” health status on the Ehteraz virus-tracing app and wear face masks for the duration of their visit.

2030 exhibition (Part One)
Part one of a series group exhibition that aims to contribute to the development of a new visual movement in Qatar, happening at Al Markhiya Gallery.

PS: Due to Covid-19 no more than 8 people in the gallery at one time. On until August 20, the “2030” exhibition is open from Sunday to Thursday from 9am to 3pm.

Picasso exhibition at Fire Station
The exhibition features 108 extraordinary artworks by Pablo Picasso selected from the unparalleled collection of the Musée national Picasso in Paris, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints and ceramics.

The museums, galleries and heritage sites are open between the hours of 9am to 3pm.  According to the current situation, visitors are required to reserve tickets in advance on the QM website. Those of 12 years of age and older are required to wear masks, present a “green” health status on the Ehteraz virus tracing app and are checked for normal temperature at the entrance.

Qatar museums are now open to limited public and tickets have to be purchased in advance on the QM website.

You may also access the collection online which includes masterpieces of Islamic art, metalwork, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, and much more from three continents dating from the 7th to the 19th century.
