Doha: Having remained closed for about three months, the parks, retail outlets in malls, shops and restaurants reopened yesterday for shoppers and visitors, as the second phase of the gradual lifting of restrictions began came into effect.
Many people were seen visiting Souq Waqif, Central Market, Museums and The Pearl-Qatar and other public places, The Peninsula observed.
The visitors and shoppers were also following preventive measures such wearing masks and observing social distancing, in addition of cooperating with security workers at the entrances to malls and shops.
Qatar’s Government Communications Office, in a tweet, advised people that with beginning of the second phase of the gradual lifting of restrictions which started yesterday every member of Qatar’s community should continue to take the required precautions, supporting the government’s efforts and ensuring this phase’s success.
Also, the easing of restrictions does not mean the virus has disappeared. All members of society should continue to take precautions and follow recommended guidelines to ensure the successful implementation of the gradual lifting of the restrictions imposed in the State of Qatar, with the aim of returning to normal life.
The second phase of the gradual lifting of restrictions included reopening of parks and beaches as well as corniche for people of all ages. Public and private gatherings are now allowed but limited to five people only.
Also, libraries and museums have reopened with limited capacity and limited working hours.
