Doha: Qatar Chamber in cooperation with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) are joining hands to launch an online recruitment platform with a view to facilitate re-employment of skilled labourers in the local market.
The platform will receive employment applications from three parties :
– First: From new companies that require new employees
– Second: From labourers terminated by local companies due to the Corona pandemic
– Third: From companies that have already terminated labourers and are willing to help them get new jobs in the Qatari market.
In statements, Saleh Al Sharqi said that the platform aims to provide the opportunity for companies seeking to hire new labourers to contract with the laid-off employees due to the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He noted that the platform will enable the workers who were laid off to log in the platform, enter their data and resumes, and apply for new jobs, pointing out that it at the same time allows firms seeking to hire new workers to choose who are appropriate for the jobs they offer.
Al Sharqi assured that the platform aims at securing continuity of businesses and projects in the local market and helping companies find skilled labourers through contracting with laid-off workers from other companies, thus avoiding any shortage of labourers that may cause the failure of projects of these companies.
He also added that this initiative stemmed out from the Chamber’s commitment towards the private sector, especially in the current circumstances, noting that it also comes as part of the private sector’s contribution to the Ministry’s strategic projects, which aim to enhance cooperation with the private sector in providing alternatives for Qatari businessmen, while ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Labor Law No. 14 of 2004 and relevant legislation and decisions.
“The platform will have a positive impact on the economic and investment activity,” he said.
QC’s Director General noted that after submitting the application on the platform, it is transferred to the Ministry to review it, examine the company’s status and ensure that the application is in accordance with procedures established by the Ministry.
He also said that applications are being followed up by the joint committee of the Chamber and the Ministry, to ensure the compliance with the required requirements and procedures in accordance with laws in force in the State.
Al Sharqi pointed out that the first phase of the platform will be launched soon, and the second will be launched later to include more services offered by the platform.
