Ministry of Public Health today recorded 517 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 533 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 101160. The Ministry also announced one death due to Covid-19.
Ministry announced the death of a person aged 53, who was receiving necessary medical care.
The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 104533 and there are 3223 active cases under treatment. So far, 150 people died from the coronavirus in Qatar. Ministry conducted 4322 tests in last 24 hours taking the total tests done so far to 420649 tests. There are 50 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours.
Nine patients were admitted to intensive care due to health complications resulting from infection with the virus, bringing the total number of cases receiving medical care in intensive care currently to 137.
Qatar has one of the lowest COVID-19 death rates in the world. This is a result of:
1. Qatar’s young population
2. Proactive testing to identify cases early
3. Expanding hospital capacity, especially intensive care, to ensure all patients receive the medical care they need
4. Protecting the elderly and those with chronic diseases.
“Even though restrictions are being lifted, and numbers are declining, this does not mean that the COVID-19 pandemic is finished in Qatar – every day between 50 and 100 people are admitted to hospital with moderate to severe COVID-19 symptoms.” Ministry warned.
While the restrictions of COVID-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures:
o Adherence to physical distancing
o Wearing a face mask
o Washing hands regularly.
The Ministry of Public Health urged anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 to contact the unified helpline (16000), or to go to one of the virus testing centers, since the earlier detection of the disease results in a better chance of recovery.
The main screening centers include Muaither Health Center, Rawdat Al Khail Health Center, Umm Slal Health Center, and Al Gharafa Health Center
