DOHA: The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) renewed its call to Qatari people who want to go to the UAE in order to rejoin their families, complete their education, obtain their records, or access their property, or those who want to resort to UAE courts to reach out to the committee.

The committee also called on them to document any obstacles they face that prevent them from accessing their rights in accordance with the verdict of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that ruled against the UAE in accordance to article 22 of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. The Committee stressed that it will continue to monitor closely any attempt to put obstacles by the UAE authorities in front of the Qatari citizens who have been supported by international justice, noting that the decision of the International Court of Justice was a first step on the road to redress all victims affected by the rest of the embargo, their rights by force of law.

This came during the remarks of Secretary-General of the NHRC Mariam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah and said that the committee has dedicated hotlines and specialists in case the Qatari citizens suffer from any harassment by the UAE authorities.

She said that lines 974 + 972-33296666 are only concerned with monitoring and documenting cases that might result from violations or attempts to circumvent the verdict of the International Court of Justice against the UAE as well as the right of Qatari citizens who want access to the rights granted to them by the ICJ.

Regarding the ICJ decision, the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani recently tweeted: “The Qatari people’s rights are still in our eyes and on the top of our leadership’s priorities”.

“We reaffirm our determination to continue the path of restoring the rights of our people, and hope that the decision of the International Court of Justice will remind those who have sought to tear apart the social fabric of the Gulf people,” the Prime Minister added. Al Attiyah pointed out that there are three other hotlines to receive complaints of violations from other countries other than the United Arab Emirates, namely 0097466626663/ 0097450006008 and / 0097450800006.

She then called on all media outlets to publish those numbers in order to clear things out for those who want to get in touch with NHRC.
