MME cleans grounds for Eid Al Adha prayer, parks and beaches

DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) represented by the General Cleanliness Department has intensified its operation to clean, wash and disinfect prayer grounds to make it ready for Eid Al Adha.

The cleaning operation also covers public parks, beaches and streets getting the country ready for the Eid Al Adha celebration.

The operation began with the announcement to reopen mosques and grounds for Eid Al Adha prayer following the government direction under gradual lifting of restrictions of COVID-19, the Ministry said in a statement.

The Ministry urged citizens and expatriates to cooperate with cleaning teams of the General Cleanliness Department in taking out wastes caused by the maintenance and renovation of their houses according to the timing of the municipal waste collecting trucks.

The cooperation will help in removing the solid and other types of wastes on time. The Department placed additional garbage containers at the beaches to cover the growing number of visitors which are expected during Eid Al Adha.

A field team was set up to monitor the cleaning operation and follow up the removal of the wastes sacrificial animals timely.

The cleaning teams were assigned from yesterday to clean out the public parks, Corniche and open grounds as the intensified cleaning campaign will continue throughout Eid Al Adha.

The cleaning teams cleaned out streets across the country under the preparation for Eid Al Adha.

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment asked people to maintain hygiene while visiting to public places, beaches and picnic places and avoid littering by throwing wastes in garbage containers
