Kuwait: The Amir of Kuwait H H Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah said that the Gulf crisis has weakened the capabilities of the GCC countries and threatened their achievements, stressing that it is no longer acceptable or bearable for the crisis to continue.
The Amir of Kuwait also called for strengthening the Gulf unity and transcendence above differences.
During the fourth ordinary session of Kuwait’s National Assembly’s 15th legislative term, the Amir of Kuwait said that disputes between brothers in the GCC are no longer acceptable.
He added that differences must be overcome at the Arab level and that the supreme interests of the nation must be placed above all other considerations, pointing out that this is a historical responsibility.
His Highness said that the region is witnessing unprecedented difficult circumstances and there are concerns and pain over the escalation and instability in a number of brotherly countries, expressing hope that brothers in these countries enjoy security and prosperity.
The Amir of Kuwait reiterated the seriousness of the volatile situation that afflicts the region, and which its serious repercussions and effects are felt and threaten the security, stability and the future of the generations.
In these delicate circumstances, lesson of what is happening around the region must be learned and there is no choice but to consolidate the national unity and the cohesion of the society, as well as to renounce the causes of strife and division and incitement, HH said, adding that social media became one of the most dangerous tools that destroy the national unity and harm the reputation of the people and their dignity.
He also said that he has called for a serious and urgent action to eradicate this dangerous phenomenon and protect society from its deadly scourge.
HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah considered that this recent session of the National Assembly legislative term is a good opportunity to make remarkable achievements, calling on the Assembly and the Government to make Kuwait’s interest as their primary concern, stressing that this requires constructive and serious cooperation, which never means relinquishing their constitutional competence.
