Al Shamal Health Centre to be completed by May 2020

Doha: As country’s healthcare sector is passing through continuous improvement, the construction of the new health centre in Al Shamal City by the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ will be completed by May next year.

Apart from Al Shamal City’s new health centre, five other new health centres are currently under construction in different parts of Qatar.

The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ has shared, in its magazine Our News of September 2019, the progress of Al Shamal Health Centre project works saying that it is scheduled to be completed by May next year.

The Public Works Authority continues to implement the new health centre project in Al Shamal City, which covers an area of approximately 15,000 square metres. The project started in mid-November 2017 and is scheduled to be completed by mid-May 2020, says the publication.

It adds that the health centre building includes a basement, first and ground floors, and provides many therapeutic and diagnostic clinics, including four dental clinics, radiology rooms, a laboratory and a pharmacy, as well as 21 examination rooms, a dialysis unit, a swimming pool and other services.

The project also includes a number of annex buildings such as the mosque, as well as provision of 313 parking spaces.

Ashghal said that health projects occupy an important part of Ashghal Building Affairs’ Projects, in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Public Health.

The Primary Health Care sector has recently witnessed a boom through the opening of a number of advanced health centres, which are the first of their kind in Qatar with their unprecedented services as well as their size which allows them to receive large number of patients and visitors, thus improving the quality of medical services provided, Ashghal’s publication said. The publication has also shared names of other under-construction health projects including Al Khor Health Centre which covers an area of 24, 998 square metres and will have 60 clinics and serve 650 visitors a day.

Al Sadd Health Centre with 29, 022 square metres area will have 100 clinics and be able to serve 1500 visitors a day. Al Mashaf Health Centre will have 48 clinics and will serve 600 visitors a day and it covers an area of 22, 931 square metres.

Other under-construction health projects include South Al Wakra Health Centre covering an area of 13, 299 square metres and it will have 16 clinics and will serve 130 visitors day while Ain Khalid Health Centre will be comprised of 48 clinics and will serve 600 visitors a day.

The new health centres which have been constructed in recent past or are under construction in different parts of the country are in fact health and wellness centres providing services beyond just medical diagnosis and treatment.

In October 2017, Ashghal had completed the construction of Muaither Centre for Health and Wellness. The clinic, a top-ranked architectural model for community health and wellness, is situated in Southern Muaither on an area of 19,000 square metres.

The centre incorporates 45 clinics, including 10 rooms for dentistry, six chambers for family and pre-marriage tests along with other medical specialized services for emergency, physiotherapy clinic with a lounge, sports hall, sauna and massage. There is also a swimming pool at an area of approximately 375 square metres.

Ashghal, in July 2018, had completed the construction of Qatar University Health Centre, located at the south of Qatar University in Duhail Area. This centre, which was formally inaugurated in January this year, incorporates 36 clinics: 22 for general check-ups, eight for dentistry, two for maternity and two for pre-marriage tests along with other medical specialised services, including emergency, and physiotherapy that comprises a lounge, sports hall, in addition to a meeting hall, a library, a lab, a radiology and a pharmacy.
