The Honorable Steven Ciobo MP (Minister of Trade since 19 July 2016)
Honorable Steven Ciobo was sworn in as the Minister of Trade Australia on 19 July 2016. Before becoming a cabinet minister he gained experience serving at least two senior positions in the Trade and Foreign Affairs portfolio.
In between 21 September 2015 and 8 February 2016 he was the Minister for International Development and the Pacific. After Steven, Hon Concetta Fierravanti-Wells took over this position.
He was also the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Trade and Investment in December 2014.
Early life of Honorable Steven Ciobo
Steven Michele Ciobo is of Italian descent. He was born on 29 May 1974 in Mareeba, Queensland which is a country town in north Queensland. His family business was dependent on the tourism industry.
Steven graduated in law and commerce from the Bond University and completed Masters of Law from the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane. Having a family background dependent on tourism and a good knowledge of law, Steven gained an in depth understanding of important aspects related to Tourism and Trade.
After completing his masters he worked as a consultant and senior consultant in the international firms of Coopers & Lybrand and PricewaterhouseCoopers respectively.
Political Career of Honorable Steven Ciobo
Steven lived on the Gold Coast for more than 20 years. His political career in the Australian Parliament began in the year 2001 when he was elected as the Member for Moncrieff from the Liberal Party.
In 2010 Federal elections he fought from the Liberal National Party, a party that was formed in 2008 by a merger of the Queensland divisions of the Liberal Party of Australia and the National Party of Australia.
Few years later Steven joined the Nelson Opposition frontbench as the Shadow Minister for the Service Economy and served on the frontbench of the Turnbull and Abbott Oppositions, including in the small business and tourism portfolios.
From September 2013 to December 2014 Steven served as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer. He also served as an Alternate Governor to the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The Honorable Andrew Robb AO MP (Minister of Trade from 18 September 2013 – 18 February 2016)
Andrew John Robb was born on 20 August 1951 in Epping, Victoria, Australia. His political career in the House of Representatives began in October 2004 when he was elected from the Liberal Party for the Federal seat of Goldstein.
He later became the Chairman of the Governments Workplace Relations Taskforce. On 27 January 2006 he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs.
In 2007 Andrew Robb was sworn as the Minister of Vocational and Further Education Australia. In March 2010, he was appointed Shadow Minister of Finance, Deregulation and Debt Reduction.
Later the same year he was re-elected and appointed Shadow Minister of Finance, Deregulation and Debt Reduction.
Early life of Andrew Robb
Andrew Robb went to Dookie Agricultural College, Parade College and La Trobe University. Robb holds a first class Honors Degree in Economics and has also studied Agricultural Science.
He was awarded the Office of the Order of Australia for his service to agriculture, politics and the community in the year 2003. From the 70s he worked in the field of agriculture and made notable achievements.
Andrew Robb became the Executive Director of the Cattle Council of Australia and Executive Director of the National Farmers Federation in 1980s. During 1990 to 1997 he was Federal Director and Campaign Director of the Liberal Party.
In between 1997 and 2004 Mr. Robb was on the investment team for the Gorgan Gas Project, and was a Board Member of Sinclair Knight Merz, Australias largest consulting engineering company.
He has also served as a Board Member of the Garvan Medical Research Foundation, the Menzies Research Centre, the Big Brother Big Sister mentoring organization, a member of the YWCA Leadership group and was honorary Treasurer of the Liberal Party in NSW.
